Consultation
If you're interested in creating a website for your business and organization, it's important to fully understand what that means. For those who already have a site, the consultation may be quick and simple, but if you're new to the world of Internet marketing, the consultation will be much more thorough. The idea is to make sure we can accurately address your needs.
Consultations typically address these issues:
- Target Audience and Expected Traffic
- Colors and Images
- Page Layout
- Content and Photos
- Editing Methods
- Future Upgradability
- Local and Online Marketing Tactics
- Analytics
- Domain Names
- Hosting
- Editing / Updating
- Pricing
A website is not intended to be a "set it and forget it" communication method. An ideal site should provide relative information regarding your business, be upgraded frequently, and monitor web traffic and marketing strategies.
Design Review
If you've decided that a website may be right for your business or organization, we can move into the design review phase. At this point, we will again meet over the phone to discuss design specifics.
For best results, you should send the following to me:
- Any business cards, brochures, or other information describing your business
- Any photographs related to your business
- A list of all content you'd like on the page and its relative importance
- A list of other websites and what, specifically, you like about them
- Any thoughts or special requests
After I receive this information, I will develop several designs for you to review. These designs will generally be presented in image format and will not be actual websites. If you like one of the designs, we will move to the next phase. If not, please make a list of the elements you like and those which you don't. With this information, I will again present a few more designs for your review.
Site Design
At this point, you will be billed 50% of the final total, and site design will begin. This process can be fairly quick if detailed information is given in the pre-design phases. The site will not contain any actual content information that this point.
Content Addition
Once approval is received regarding the site, your content will be uploaded. If you intend to edit the site yourself, you may participate in the content addition process with my assistance. I will work with you to teach you how content editing is performed.
Final Approval
With final approval, you will be billed the final 50% of the design fee, and your site will be transferred to your selected hosting company if you are opting to use a different one. Once payment is received, your site will become "live" for others on the Internet to see.
Ongoing Maintenance
Now you are responsible for your own site; though, I am always willing to offer advice regarding additional editing or updates. If you wish to use your site specifically for marketing purposes, Search Engine Optimization and/or site analysis can be performed.
Ongoing SEO and analysis allows for:
- Higher rankings in all search engines
- Targeted reports detailing marketing strategies
- Visitor tracking by geographical location
- Visitor experience tracking
- Optimization of site navigation system
